Jinnah Student Research Society

The annual Research Conference 2024 at Jinnah Medical College was a two-day academic gathering that brought together budding researchers, experienced faculty, and professionals from across Pakistan’s medical and healthcare institutions. With the goal of encouraging scientific dialogue and interdisciplinary learning, the event featured plenary sessions, poster and oral competitions, panel discussions, and interactive exhibitions.

Plenary Sessions

The 1st Plenary Session was led by Dr. Samina Malik focused on using AI and simulations which improves medical students’ diagnostic skills by enhancing clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and exposure to diverse cases. Real-time feedback helps correct errors, while repeated practice builds confidence in real-life clinical settings.

The 2nd Plenary Session was led by Dr. Almas Khattak which was based on reviewing healthcare practices to assess and improve health care quality. Students learn to evaluate performance, implement changes, and analyze data for continuous improvement in patient care.

The 3rd Plenary Session was led by Dr. Mahrukh Ikram focused on exploring the responsible use of AI in healthcare, focusing on patient privacy, bias prevention, and compliance with legal standards. Students learn to navigate ethical challenges and ensure AI is used safely and lawfully.

Parallel Sessions

Spss workshop

This workshop was presented by Dr. Waqar Ali focused on the use of SPSS, participants will master the fundamentals of data analysis, including managing and analyzing datasets efficiently. They will learn to perform various statistical evaluations/tests and accurately interpret the results. Additionally, attendees will develop the skills to create clear, data-driven reports and visualizations using SPSS.

Qualitative studies

This workshop was presented by Dr. Bilqis focused on qualitative research, participants will gain a solid understanding of key qualitative research methods and approaches. They will learn how to design studies, conduct interviews, and analyze non-numerical data. Additionally, attendees will develop the skills to interpret qualitative findings and present them effectively in research reports.

Proposal writing

This workshop was presented by Dr. Naheed Mehsood on proposal writing, participants will learn the essential components of crafting a compelling research proposal. They will develop skills in articulating research objectives, outlining methodology, and presenting a clear, persuasive narrative. Additionally, attendees will gain insights into structuring proposals to meet funding and academic requirements effectively.
